Kamya Sims
From a young age, Kamya Sims showed a passion for nails. She started doing nails for her family at six or seven years old. By the time she was 13, she offered her services to others. In 2021, she turned her passion into a business and launched K’s Klassy Nailz, specializing in nails and pedicures.
Kamya utilizes business cards, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and word-of-mouth to promote her business. She spends approximately 15 hours a week doing nails and pedicures and has built a loyal clientele with about 25 to 30 repeat customers.
Kamya’s community involvement includes volunteering to feed the homeless and volunteering at a daycare center. In addition to her community and entrepreneurial endeavors, Kamya has been an active member of Rich 227 High School's Student Council for three years, holding various positions. Kamya is a senior with a 3.83 GPA and has pursued the business pathway in her high school’s focused curriculum, preparing her for future success. She has been a part of the competitive dance team, showcasing her dedication and teamwork skills.
Kamya has been on the Honor Roll every quarter since 2022. She has applied to 13 universities and has already been accepted to nine, with four more pending responses. Her top choices are the University of Illinois, Chicago, and Clark University in Georgia. One university has even offered her a full scholarship. Kamya plans to major in Business Administration to expand her knowledge and skills to further her entrepreneurial journey.
