Jim Fuentes opened his State Farm Agency in 1987. Prior to becoming an insurance agent, he was a paramedic and a teacher at Thornton Fractional High Schools (North & South).
He considers himself a “workaholic” and loves people. He sees his role as an insurance agent as a continuation of being an educator—insurance is a “necessary evil” (his words) and people need to have it.
He believes any business is about “relationships” and wants to know his policyholders, review and revise their coverages as their situations change and be there when they need him. Jim has been awarded Businessman of the Year in Tinley Park. An entrepreneur, Jim and his wife also own an electronics business in Tinley Park.
He is also passionate about Tinley Park, and especially the downtown main street, Oak Park Avenue. In the late 1990s, he started the Oak Park Avenue Mainstreet Association (OPAMA) along with a few key merchants and was its President for eight years. He was instrumental in starting several events to showcase the downtown businesses and encourage residents and visitors to come and enjoy the downtown. He continues to serve on commissions and much, much more.
Jim says, “My mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. I promise to deliver positively outrageous service by promising a lot and delivering more.”
